What is the Comet Academy?
The Comet Academy is a development program built for the player who is ready for more than recreational soccer but isn't sure about competitive travel yet — and for the player who is absolutely headed toward GPU and wants to arrive prepared.
We believe development happens best in small groups, with focused instruction, and with character woven into every session. Not just better soccer players — better teammates. Better competitors. Better people.
What We Work On
Every Comet Academy session develops players on and off the field.
On the field: technical skills, decision-making, positional awareness, and the specific competencies GPU coaches look for in tryout players.
Off the field: what it means to be coachable, how to be a great teammate, how to give your best effort even when it's hard.
Soccer is the vehicle. Character is the destination.
Player Options
The Comet Academy offers multiple ways to get involved:
Tryout Primer Camp — Intensive preparation for players heading into GPU tryouts. Focused on exactly what competitive coaches want to see.
Summer Camps — Multi-day evening camps for U8 and U10 players.
Small groups (12 players maximum) for a more personal experience.
Winter Indoor Sessions — Keep your player sharp in the off-season.
Indoor training sessions at Brunner to maintain fitness and touch through the winter.
More programming options in development. Follow our social media for updates.
Who is the Comet Academy For?
The Comet Academy is built for U8 and U10 players — the ages where intentional development makes the biggest difference.
You don't need to be a GPU player or even planning on trying out. If your player wants to grow, work hard, and be part of something intentional — the Comet Academy is for them.
When and Where?
Comet Academy programming is hosted at Brunner Grounds in Genoa — a clean, family-friendly multi-sport facility right in our community.
The Comet Academy operates in partnership with Rise Up Student Ministry, a gospel-centered student movement also based at Brunner. Shared values of character development and community are at the heart of everything we do.
