REFEREES – GENOA SOCCER CLUB
Become a referee and support our local soccer community while gaining valuable experience and earning money.
OVERVIEW
The Genoa Soccer Club is always looking for referees for our U8–U14 divisions. This is a great opportunity for players (age 13+) and adults to stay involved in the game, develop leadership skills, and earn extra income.
PAY & GAME INFORMATION
Referees are paid at the completion of each game. Typical pay ranges from $20 to $40+ per game.
Game Lengths:
U8: Four 10-minute quarters
U10: Four 12-minute quarters
U12: Four 15-minute quarters
Game Locations:
Genoa (Veterans Park and Waterworks)
Clay Center
REFEREE EXPECTATIONS
Wear black, yellow, or referee shirt
Bring a whistle
Arrive 15–20 minutes prior to game time
Check in both teams before the game
Starting Play:
Coin flip or Rock, Paper, Scissors (commonly used at younger levels)
Game Knowledge:
U8: Corner kicks, goal kicks, throw-ins
U10 & U12: Includes offsides in addition to the above
This is a developmental league. Players are learning the game, and referees play an important role in guiding them.

Referee training is primarily completed online at your own pace.

Additional Resource:
A passing score of 70% is required. In-person training sessions will be scheduled and communicated each season.
EQUIPMENT & UNIFORM
Required Items:
Whistle
Timekeeping device
Red and yellow cards
Notebook and pen/pencil
Uniform Guidelines:
Plain black or yellow shirt
Black shorts
Dark shoes and socks
